READY FOR ACTION: Water pushers are deployed to accelerate the expulsion of floodwater from the Phetchaburi River in Tha Yang and Muang districts. The navy is dispatching 60 boats to Phetchaburi province to boost local authorities' efforts to ease severe flooding which has ravaged the province for almost a week. An initial 20 boats were sent yesterday to expel floodwater from the Phetchaburi River in Tha Yang and Muang districts into the sea. San Jorncharoen, director of the Phetchaburi irrigation project, said yesterday that water discharged from the Phet dam dropped to 53 cubic metres/second and the water level in Phetchaburi River was also dropping. Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said yesterday the flood situation in Phetchaburi was improving, especially in the districts of Tha Yang, Muang and Ban Lat.
